National Champs
Alabama’s women’s gymnastics team plays their home matches at Coleman Coliseum. The team is coached by Sarah Patterson. They compete for the National Championship each year. They won a title in 1988, 1991, 1996, and in 2002. The team has been to the NCAA Regionals 28 times, winning 23 of those times. The Tide has won the Southeastern Conference championship 6 times, including 2009. Alabama is successful in many of the sports that they participate in. The team has had success in women’s soccer and rowing, as well as volleyball. Todd Bramble coaches the good women’s soccer team. Judy Green is the head coach of the volleyball team. The team finished the 2004 season good but they didn’t make it to the Women’s Volleyball Championship. There were many fans at the match cheering with their Alabama Crimson Tide merchandise. Women’s rowing was the last sport that the school added. Larry Davis is the coach. The school offers club sports of: lacrosse, crew, disc golf, rugby union, ice hockey, team triathlon, water skiing, cycling, racquetball, men’s soccer, cricket, tennis, triathlon, wheelchair basketball, Ultimate, water polo, wrestling, and bass fishing, .
Becky Burleigh is the head coach of the Gators’ soccer team. The team started competing at the national level in only their third year. They beat North Carolina, which many people thought wouldn’t happen. There were many Gator fans there cheering and waving their Florida Gators merchandise. Mike Holloway is the coach of the men’s and women’s track and field teams. Mary Wise is the head coach of the Florida Gators’ volleyball team.
The men’s tennis team at Georgia has won 32 SEC championships. 25 are regular season championships and the other 7 are SEC tournament championships. Many of these fans had on their Georgia Bulldogs merchandise.
Dennis Shaver of LSU coaches the men’s and women’s outdoor and indoor track and field teams. Fans know he has a lot of tough coaching to do but they come to the matches wearing their LSU Tigers merchandise cheering him and the players on.
Texas has proven that they can win in men’s golf. The men’s cross country and track and field coach is Bubba Thornton. The school has finished in the top 25 for most of the past 25 yrs. There are many fans that wear their Texas Longhorns merchandise.
