Gators Make Good Competitors
The Florida Gators play at the University of Florida. Most of the teams’ facilities are located along Stadium Road. That includes the basketball, football, and baseball stadiums. Before any of these games, you often see people walking to the games with their Florida Gator gear on.
The team has consistently been one of the best schools in the SEC in sports. The Gators won 2 basketball championships and a football championship, all in one calendar year.
The school chose orange and blue to be their colors in 1910 and the Gators to be their mascot. Later on, people started buying Gators merchandise.
The Gators’ biggest rivals are the Georgia Bulldogs, the Florida State Seminoles, and the Tennessee Volunteers. Also, they have had smaller rivalries with the Miami Hurricanes and the Auburn Tigers. At many of these games, you often see people wearing Florida Gators hats and shirts.
The Gators have played in 34 bowl games, winning 8 SEC titles.
The Gators play the Bulldogs in Jacksonville, Florida, which is a neutral site. Also, the Gators play LSU every year. They are a team from the SEC Western Division. They end their regular season by playing Florida State, an in-state rival. Urban Meyer began coaching at Florida starting in 2005.
The team didn’t have the much success in the mid-1990s. However, people stuff bought Florida Gator stuff. Later on in the decade, things began to fall into place, and the team became more competitive.
The Gators’ best year in SEC baseball was 2005. That year they went on to the College World Series. They made it to the championship round, where they lost against Texas.
Florida began playing volleyball in the mid 1980s. Mary Wise was responsible for the rebirth of the team. In all of her years at Florida (18), she has an excellent record of 576-60. She has won 18 straight Southeastern Conference regular season titles. Many fans have a Florida Gators shirt of some kind since most of their sports teams are competitive.
