Alabama’s men’s baseball team has not been noticed somewhat because of their great football team. They are a force to be reckoned with once they start waving their Alabama Crimson Tide merchandise.
Billy Donovan is in his 13th season of coaching the Florida Gators men’s basketball team. The team never won their conference title but won the regular season title several times.
A few years ago, the team started off 17-0. This was the best in school history. This surprised many people because the team was young and led by four sophomores. The team wasn’t ranked in the preseason but the proved what they were made of. People bought a lot of Florida Gators merchandise after they were undefeated. They won back-to-back national championships. Billy Donovan led the Gators to the NIT Semifinals last year. This was their rebuilding year.
Amanda Butler is the head coach of the women’s basketball team. Women’s basketball was approved in 1972 and a team began to play a year later. Their women’s team is often overlooked because of Tennessee and Georgia, who are in the same division as them. Carol Ross was the winningest coach in the women’s basketball history at Florida before coaching at the Ole Miss.
In 1979, Coach Andy Landers became the women’s basketball head coach. He led them to seven regular-season SEC titles and 4 SEC tournament championships. He coached the team to 23 NCAA tournaments and 5 Final Four tournaments. Their fans went crazy each time waving their Georgia Bulldogs merchandise as they tried to get their team to the National Championship. He is the coach with the most wins never to have won a national championship.
The men’s basketball team is overlooked because of the history of the women’s team.
Trent Johnson helped get the men’s basketball team ranked during the 2008-09 season. Tigers fans bought a lot of LSU Tigers merchandise during this time. He is the head coach.
Rick Barnes has added a lot of wins to Texas’s all-time win list for his wins in men’s basketball coaches. There has also been a lot of Texas Longhorns merchandise sold since he started winning all those games.
